Cosmetic Dental Bonding May Not Be For You

If you have been considering cosmetic dental bonding in Pasadena, there are some things you should be aware of before you commit.

If you have been considering cosmetic dental bonding in Pasadena, there are some things you should be aware of before you commit.

Unlike porcelain dental crowns or porcelain veneers, cosmetic dental bonding is not as strong and can chip and stain easier than other types of cosmetic dentistry procedures.

CEREC® Instead of Cosmetic Dental Bonding

Dr. Paul Shinto and his team of Pasadena dentists are preferred CEREC® providers and can repair your tooth in a single dental visit, and while cosmetic dental bonding only requires one visit as well, is a much more permanent solution for chipped, cracked, or stained teeth.

What is Cosmetic Dental Bonding?

If you follow your Pasadena Dentist Blog, you will remember that cosmetic dental bonding is a procedure that dentists use to repair small chips and cracks. Dentists in Pasadena also use cosmetic dental bonding for small fillings, inlays, and onlays.

Using a dental resin, your Dr. Paul Shinto and his team will etch or roughen the tooth before applying the resin. After application, your dentist in Pasadena will sculpt into place before curing with a light or laser. Once hardened the bond is polished and smoothed to perfection.

What is CEREC®?

CEREC® is a chairside dental procedure that takes about an hour and a half to complete. CEREC® dental crowns require less removal of your natural tooth and look just as natural as conventional crowns, even more natural than metal and porcelain crowns.

After digital pictures are taken, your dentist will send those pictures to the computer before they are delivered to the onsite milling machine. After about 45 minutes, your new CEREC® crown is complete and ready for placement.

While dental bonding can last five to seven years, a CEREC® dental crown can give you 10 to 15 years of life before it needs to be replaced.

If you would like more information regarding CEREC® or cosmetic dental bonding, call and schedule an appointment with Dr. Paul Shinto and his team of Pasadena dentists today.
