Beautiful Teeth with Restorative and Cosmetic Dentistry

These days you do not have to be a movie star to have a beautiful smile, and thanks to the talented team of cosmetic dentists in Pasadena, you can have a toothy grin that will rival the ones that you see on the red carpet.

Dental veneers, dental bonding, in office tooth whitening and tooth colored fillings can change the way you look and feel. If you have missing teeth, you can have them replaced without having to resort to dentures.

Dental Implants look and feel just like your natural teeth and are synthetic implants that your dentist will place in the root where your missing tooth used to be. Dental implants could be an option of you have missing teeth or a missing tooth because of traumatic injury to your face or have missing teeth because of periodontal disease.

There are two types of Dental Implants. Subperiosteal and Endosteal.

Subperiosteal, or on the bone, involves the placement of metal posts directly on top of your jaw with the framework protruding through your gum in order to hold the synthetic tooth or teeth. Dentists use subperiosteal dental implants for patients who cannot wear dentures or for those who have very little bone height.

Endosteal, or on the bone, is the most common type of dental implant. Your dentist can use blades, cylinders, or screws that are surgically placed directly inside your jawbone. Each dental implant has the ability to hold one tooth or several artificial teeth. Endosteal dental implants are normally used as a bridge or removable denture alternative.

According to your dentist, the ideal candidate for dental implants is a person who is in good health. Good dental implant candidates will have healthy teeth and gums as well.  It is imperative that you have enough bone to support the dental implant and that means no gum disease.

Dental implant procedures include single tooth replacement, replacing several or all of your teeth, sinus augmentation, and ridge modification.

If you have one or more missing teeth or would like to get rid of your dentures, bridges or partial dentures, contact your dentist who will be able to determine if you are a good candidate for dental implants.
