Porcelain Veneers are not Just for Superstars

Porcelain Veneers are not Just for Superstars

Ten years ago, the only people who could afford dental veneers were those who spent their lives in the public eye, or folks who were financially fortunate. Thanks to 21st century technology and the capable hands of your Dentist in Pasadena, you can afford dental veneers that will take care of that chipped front tooth, or your crooked lower teeth.

Dental veneers are thin pieces of plastic or porcelain that is put in place and cemented on to the affected tooth or teeth. Veneers can be used to help discolored teeth, teeth that are chipped and unevenly spaced teeth. Your Pasadena Dentist will also recommend veneers if you have crooked teeth or an annoying gap between one or several teeth. Veneers will last longer than bonding and can resist even the toughest stains including tea, coffee, and cigarette smoking.

When you schedule an appointment for bonding with Dr. Paul Shinto, Dr. Bert K. Funatsu, Dr. Daniel J. Iannotti, or Dr. J. Michael Jann you will be given a complete dental exam to determine if you are a good fit for dental veneers.

If you are a good fit for dental veneers, you can expect the procedure to take three appointments. Your first appointment will include diagnosis, treatment planning, preparation and finally, bonding and placing your new dental veneers.

When you sit in your Pasadena Dentist chair for your first dental veneer appointment, expect to be there for one to two hours. During this time, your Dentist in Pasadena will lightly buff your teeth as this adds some thickness to your veneer. Because of this, dental veneers are usually permanent. According to your Pasadena Dentist, it is usually about a half a millimeter. This may or may not require anesthetic depending on how sensitive you are.

During your first visit, Dr. Paul Shinto, Dr. Bert K. Funatsu, Dr. Daniel J. Iannotti, or Dr. J. Michael Jann will take a mold of your teeth before sending it off to the dental lab.

Your final visit will also take up to two hours, as the veneers will be placed on the surface of your tooth with glycerin or water. This helps your Dentist in Pasadena check the color and fit. While the veneers are placed, your Pasadena Dentist will adjust the color and fit with different colors of cement to match your tooth color.

Once the fit and color have been established, your Dentist in Pasadena will apply the veneer using chemicals to bond. Once the cement has been placed between the veneer and the tooth, your Pasadena Dentist will use a laser or light to harden the cement.

After your fitting you can expect the adjustment period to last a couple of weeks as the size and shape of your teeth will be different and may take some getting used to. It is imperative that you brush and floss daily. Your follow up appointment with your Dentist in Pasadena is usually one to two weeks after you have had your veneers fitted.
